Always on sale
Measured discount behavior across Egyptian fashion storefronts: maximum depths from 10% to 80%, brands whose sale never ends, the few that refuse to play — and what a permanent discount does to a price's meaning.

When everyone is on sale, no one is
These storefronts ran standing, open-ended discounts — the sale is the price:

Perpetual 20–50% off
50%
Perpetual sales
35%
A permanent 40–80% off resets the shopper's reference price to the discounted number — the "full price" stops existing. Brands in this pattern can't run a real promotion anymore: there's nothing left to cut.

Every threshold is also a basket-size target. The spread says how differently these brands think about the same lever:
What the numbers mean
01
Depth substitutes for reasons.
The storefronts discounting hardest are also the ones giving shoppers the fewest non-price reasons to buy — no reviews, no story, no guarantees. The discount is doing all the work the brand isn't.
02
Restraint clusters at the top.
The brands that discount least — a 10% sitewide code, seasonal-only events, or none at all — are precisely the heritage and premium players. Pricing discipline and pricing power travel together.
03
Thresholds are set by gut, not basket.
A 7.5× spread in free-shipping bars within one market means most were set by copying or instinct. The brands treating the threshold as a tested AOV lever are playing a different game.
Figures reflect each storefront as publicly displayed, March–April 2026. Prices in EGP. All brands reported neutrally.
Stuck in the discount spiral?
Getting out is a sequencing problem — proof first, then price. It's the exact rebuild we run for accounts that can't turn the sale off.
