The squeeze

EGP 199 changes the conversation

The international high street enters at EGP 199 (LC Waikiki) with standing 30–75% sale cadences (Max Fashion) — below the median of every local women's fashion brand audited. Local mid-market brands at EGP 1,000–1,500 medians are not competing with each other on price; they're competing with global supply chains. The winnable axes are design, identity and proof — not the ladder's bottom rungs.

What the numbers mean

01

The mid-market is a traffic jam.

In sportswear, four of five brands overlap between LE 500–2,200. In fashion, three medians sit within EGP 450 of each other. Identical price positions demand differentiation somewhere else — and most brands haven't picked where.

02

Premium is nearly empty.

One brand above LE 2,200 in sportswear; one above EGP 1,500 median in local fashion; one homewear brand above EGP 1,200. Premium positions are available in every vertical for brands that can build the story to justify them.

03

Price ranges are wide; price stories are absent.

A brand spanning LE 99 to 1,500 tells the shopper nothing about what to expect. The market publishes prices but not price logic — good/better/best structures are almost nonexistent.

Figures reflect each storefront as publicly displayed, March–April 2026. Prices in EGP. All brands reported neutrally.

Where should your prices sit?

Positioning against these ladders is a media-efficiency question as much as a brand one — CAC tolerance changes with every rung. Talk it through with us.
