Finding 01
At the first of two Egyptian retailers compared, the median phone price was flat through the end of September 2026, then reached 16.6% above its late-August level by the end of October. It stood about 8% above by 11 October and about 15% by 25 October. Phone by phone, the median rise from 27 September to 30 October was about 10%, or roughly 2% a week.
The climb was not smooth. The median touched about 12% above its start on 8 October, fell back to about 8% by 11 October, then resumed. Short spikes in mid-September did not last. A phone price can go out of date within the week.
The second retailer moved earlier and took its largest step at the end. Among models available to buy at the end of October, the median was about 8% above its start by late September, about 16% by mid-October, back to about 10% a week later, then about 25% by the end of October. That last step is the newest, which makes it the least settled number here.
Finding 02
At two Egyptian retailers, between late August and late October 2026, Infinix's median same-model rise ran from +28.7% to +45.1%, Xiaomi's from +24.3% to +29.8%, and Samsung's from +23.6% to +26.0%. The retailers agree on direction and differ on size. Apple and Realme have too few models at the second retailer to compare. Samsung's first-retailer figure is the newest of these: it stood at +15.6% on 29 October and +26.0% from 30 October, so treat that last step as unsettled.
At the one retailer where it was compared, Honor's median was 0%, with five of its seven models unchanged and two raised. Vivo sits between the groups: a median of +10.0%, with seven of its 13 models raised.

Finding 03
Phones under EGP 10,000 took the largest median rises at two Egyptian retailers between late August and late October 2026, at +25.2% and +40.9%, against +13.6% above EGP 50,000 at the first retailer. Both retailers show the same shape: the two bands under EGP 20,000 rose most. Flagships did not escape: all 8 models above EGP 50,000 at the first retailer rose.
The pattern is not a straight line by price. At the first retailer the bands between EGP 20,000 and EGP 50,000 rose least of all, by less than flagships.

Finding 04
New phones under EGP 10,000 fell from 20.6% to 9.0% of the range at one Egyptian retailer between late August and the end of October 2026. At a second, excluding feature phones, the share fell from about 41% to 19%. The direction agrees, but the level differs, so neither number stands for the whole market. The median price of the first's range moved from about EGP 19,000 to about EGP 21,000, on a changing set of phones, so it should not be read as a same-phone rise.
Part of that drop reflects a changing range, not only higher prices. Among the same 148 phone versions at the first retailer, including colours, the share under EGP 10,000 fell from 18.9% to 8.8%, so higher prices alone took it to a similar place. By model, that is 16 falling to 8.

Finding 05
At one Egyptian retailer, between late August and late October 2026, EGP 10,000 to 20,000 held about 48% of phone units and about 36% of value. Above EGP 50,000 is about 5% of units and about 19% of value, several times its weight in units.
The two bands under EGP 20,000, which took the largest rises, hold about seven in ten units. That does not show how those buyers responded to the rises, and it says nothing about whether demand holds if prices keep moving. Read these as one retailer's shares of where demand sits, not as a verdict on the market or on price sensitivity.

Finding 06
At one Egyptian retailer, on one shared comparison between late August and late October 2026, phones rose about 13% and laptops about 11%. Water heaters rose 3.9%. Washers, fridges, TVs and air conditioners all have medians within about a point and a half of flat, but many individual items moved both ways: 41% of air conditioners rose and 47% fell, 50% of fridges rose and 28% fell, and about four in ten TVs rose while more than a third fell.
This chart uses a more conservative comparison than the headline, so phones show +13.1% here. Compare categories with each other on this chart only, not with the headline. For the appliance side, read our guide to large appliance demand in Egypt.
Finding 07
On 29 October 2026, across 38 phone pairs at two Egyptian retailers, matched on model, storage, RAM and network, the median price gap was 3.8%, and 37% of pairs differed by 5% or more. Neither retailer is consistently the cheaper one: the first is dearer on 42% of pairs, cheaper on 45%, and level on the rest.
The widest gap is 13.8%, on the Galaxy A07s 64/4, where the first retailer was lower. Treat this as indicative: 38 pairs is a small set, and prices were still moving that day.
What it means
With a median 3.8% between retailers on the same phone, and more than a third of pairs at 5% or more, price is contestable model by model. The gap runs both ways, so a blanket claim of being cheapest is hard to support. Model-level comparison is the honest unit.
Check every price in live phone ads and feeds against today's price this week. Any August-era benchmark for phone order value or conversion needs checking too, since the prices under it have changed. Weigh the EGP 10,000 to 20,000 band first, where demand concentrates at the one retailer compared.
