Phone prices in Egypt rose about 13% to 25% in nine weeks, from late August to 30 October 2026, at the two retailers compared. At the first retailer the median same-phone rise was 16.6% from start to finish, or 13.1% comparing the first and last weeks. At the second it was 24.9% among models available to buy. Phones under EGP 10,000 fell from 20.6% to 9.0% of new phones at the first retailer. On 29 October, 38 identical phones differed by a median of 3.8% between the two.

All figures as of 30 October 2026. They describe the retailers compared, not any account's results.

At the first retailer, the median same-phone rise over the last five weeks was about 10%, or roughly 2% a week. Any price fixed in an ad, a feed or a landing page has a short life at that speed. The full figures are in the report on mobile prices in Egypt in 2026. This guide turns them into account decisions. It takes no view on why prices moved or where they go next.

Where can a stale phone price hide in an ad account?

List each place a shopper can see a number, how it updates, and who owns it. The cost of doing nothing is concrete: a phone at EGP 15,000 in an ad approved on 11 October would, at the median move at the first retailer, be about EGP 16,200 by 30 October 2026.

The cadences below are working rules from Mojo's media practice, not market data. Adjust them to how often your own prices change.

Where the price lives How it updates Exposure Working rule
Meta catalogue ads From the feed Low if the feed is sound Feed refresh at least daily
Google Shopping and Performance Max From Merchant Center Low if the feed is sound Daily, plus automatic item updates
Static and video ads with a price Manual High Remove the price or check weekly
Search headlines and price assets Manual High Check weekly, use "from" with care
Homepage banners and offer pages Manual High Named owner, weekly check
WhatsApp saved replies, pinned posts, creator content Manual, often forgotten High Remove fixed prices, send a live link

Add a column for the date each price was last checked.

How do you keep the feed and landing page in step?

An ad should never show a price the shopper cannot find. On Google, a mismatch between feed and landing page can get the item disapproved in Merchant Center. On Meta the ad may keep running, and the cost shows up as a lost shopper or, on a cash-on-delivery order, a refusal at the door.

  • Use one source of truth. Generate the feed from the store's live price. A spreadsheet someone edits by hand will fall behind.
  • Refresh at least daily. Meta's scheduled feeds can run more often when prices are moving. In Merchant Center, turn on automatic item updates, or use the API if you change prices several times a week.
  • Time price changes to the feed. Change prices shortly before the feed job runs, so the gap between page and ad is minutes rather than a day.
  • Give every variant its own item. A 64GB and a 128GB phone are different prices. Each item ID should link to a page that opens on that variant.
  • Use the sale fields. Set price and sale_price with effective dates, rather than overwriting the regular price and forgetting to restore it.
  • Clear the page cache. A cached page or stale structured data can show yesterday's price even when the feed is right.
  • Label the catalogue. Add brand and price band to custom_label fields, for the budget reviews below.

Each week, take the 20 items with the most spend. Open each ad, click through, and compare price, variant and availability. Then read the product issues reported in Merchant Center and Commerce Manager. To measure which orders are actually paid, use the COD setup guide for Meta ads in Egypt.

What should phone ads say while prices keep moving?

Where prices are moving, a number in designed creative dates the ad and forces a rebuild each time. Exact prices go only in formats that update themselves, and everything else sells value or range. The lines and amounts below are for illustration only.

Instead of Run Why it lasts
"This model at EGP 9,999" Catalogue ad with a live price overlay The number follows the feed
"The lowest price in Egypt" Warranty, delivery time, genuine products, returns True whatever the price does
"Phones from EGP 7,000" "The full range of this series, available now" Range does not expire weekly
"Only EGP 800 a month" "Instalment plans available", with terms on the page A monthly figure is also a price claim
"Price goes up tomorrow" Remove it, unless you have a dated, confirmed change An urgency claim you cannot prove is a risk

In Google Search, use responsive search ad copy without a number where possible, and keep price assets on a named owner's weekly list, because they do not follow the feed.

Is "cheapest" safe to claim?

Two Egyptian retailers differed by a median of 3.8% across 38 identical phones on 29 October 2026, and neither was consistently lower. In 37% of pairs the gap was 5% or more, and on two pairs 10% or more. One retailer was dearer on 16 pairs and cheaper on 17. The widest gap, 13.8%, was on one Samsung model.

Before any comparison claim, compare the same variant on the same day, include warranty and delivery terms, save a dated record, and set an end date on the ad. If you cannot repeat the check weekly, drop the superlative.

Which price bands should the budget review start with?

At one Egyptian retailer in the nine weeks to 30 October 2026, phones at EGP 10,000 to 20,000 made up about 48% of units and about 36% of value. In the second half of October, that band was about 57% of units and under EGP 10,000 about 15%. Take it as an indication from one retailer, not a budget split. Your margin and availability in each band should set the final weighting.

Price band (EGP) Share of units Share of value
Under 10,000 about 24% about 11%
10,000 to 20,000 about 48% about 36%
20,000 to 30,000 about 17% about 23%
30,000 to 50,000 about 6% about 12%
Above 50,000 about 5% about 19%

The bottom of the range changes the message. Phones under EGP 10,000 fell from 20.6% of new phones in late August to 9.0% at the end of October at one retailer, and from about 41% to 19% at a second, excluding feature phones. Part of that is a change in range rather than price alone.

  • Check every "under EGP 10,000" line. Fewer phones can honour it, so confirm you can supply it before the ad runs.
  • Check rule-based product sets. A Meta product set or Google listing group built on "price under 10,000" shrinks as phones cross the line. Review its item count weekly.
  • Re-cut your price bands. A phone that was mid-tier in September may now sit in the next band, with different audiences and copy.

Which phone brands rose most, and what does it mean for budgets?

Infinix rose most at both retailers between late August and late October 2026, with median same-model rises of 28.7% and 45.1%, while Honor's median at the one retailer compared was 0%. A single account-wide target hides that spread.

Brand First retailer Models Second retailer Models
Infinix +28.7% 6 +45.1% 13
Samsung +26.0% 23 +23.6% 15
Xiaomi +24.3% 7 +29.8% 9
Oppo +21.4% 7 not compared
Apple +19.1% 4 too few 1
Realme +15.3% 7 too few 2
Vivo +10.0% 13 not compared
Honor 0.0% 7 not compared

Figures are reported neutrally for every brand. Second retailer figures cover models available to buy at the end of October. Bases are small for several brands, and Samsung's first-retailer figure moved from +15.6% on 29 October to +26.0% on 30 October, so treat these as indicative. Use your own price file as the base.

  • Split by brand. Use product sets on Meta and listing groups on Google, built on your labels. Read cost per order and conversion rate for each.
  • Do not trust revenue-based return alone. If orders and spend stay flat and your prices rise 16%, reported ROAS rises 16% with no additional phones sold. Watch orders and contribution margin next to it.
  • Revisit value-based bidding. A target ROAS set in September was set on different prices. Change targets in small steps, and check conversion values are passing the current price.

How should phone sellers run Black Friday honestly?

Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026, and at one Egyptian retailer the median phone stood about 13% to 17% above late August by 30 October. A reduction of roughly 12% to 14% only returns it to where it stood, and 15% off lands about 1% to 4% below it. At the second retailer, on models available to buy, the same return takes about 20%. Shoppers who looked in September may remember the old number.

  • Use a reference price you really charged. Keep a dated price log per variant and base any "was" price on it. Take legal advice on how reference prices are presented.
  • Prefer offers that do not rest on the reference. Bundles, a protector or extended warranty, free delivery or a prepayment incentive add value without a contested "was" price.
  • Lock prices for the event, or do not print them. Static creative with a price should run only for items with a confirmed price through 30 November.
  • Honour the price at order. If a price changes between order and delivery on a COD order, the order price stands. A surprise at the door is a refusal.

One caution on demand. At one retailer, phone demand did not visibly fall through mid to late October, though it varied widely from week to week and the final days ran well below that level. That does not show how shoppers responded to price, and it says nothing about your account. Test on your own results, keep a holdout where you can, and do not plan November on October's rate. Nothing here is a promise of ad results.

What should a phone brand or store owner do before Black Friday?

If you own the brand or the store, ask for four things by date. Who owns each fixed price, whether the feed follows the live price, which claims can be repeated weekly, and how results read by brand and price band.

By Do this
This week Audit complete. Fixed prices removed from always-on creative.
5 November Feed at daily refresh or better, variants mapped, labels added, first 20-item check done.
11 November Offer tested on the 11.11 window. Comparison claims reviewed or dropped.
13 November Budget step-ups begin on ad sets out of learning, split by brand and band.
23 to 29 November Price updates flow through the feed, so ads stay unedited. Daily 20-item check.

If you want this checked before Black Friday, send Mojo your phone catalogue and current media plan and we will review price exposure, feed health and budget by brand and band.
